Well, it took me a few goes (you should have seen my first attempt.. it was hilarious, it was more like a 'granny hexagon') but I got there in the end.
Tom set up a little kettle next to the bed and the weather in Perth has finally dropped below 30 degrees, so I am enjoying lying here, drinking tea and attempting to figure out what a half-treble is.

I half treble is the only one i know.... but i have no chance of attempting to explain it!
I'm struggling away with the knitting needles at the moment...

Impressive!
I still don't know the name of different stitches and have to look them up every time I start a new pattern.

What a neat granny-square... can't wait to see what you make with a bundle of them. A bed side kettle sounds perfect as does this weather for tea drinking. I'm sitting here with one next to me now, trying to relax by catching up on a few blogs while I listen out for Sophie's cries :)
You did so great! It's quite satisfying isn't it? I can't go beyond the normal granny square treble stitch so you're doing all learning new stitches already. What are you making? Mel xx
I learned to make a granny square from this book as well, and I definitely remember that there was quite a bit of cursing involved before i got the hang of it :)
p.s. just found your blog and wanted to tell you that i think it's lovely. x
What is the book you are using? I am thinking of getting one to help me! But I'd like one with great diagrams like that.
Emma - I am using Pip Lincoln's book 'Meet me at Mike's'. Although I started off by watching tutorials on you tube which really help if you are just beginning.. Good luck!
Great work! what are you making?
Thanks Katie - I have that book but unfortunately it is packed away in storage at the moment, my husband and I are traveling around Australia and one thing I wanted to learn as we went was to crochet, but am now without the book! I have been watching Pip's videos though which are great, my granny square is more of a hexagon though too :( And I feel like a hippo doing brain surgery holding everything!
this looks great! i am very impressed :) looking forward to seeing some of your creations!

Thanks for your comment.. It is nice to know that there is someone out there (other than my husband) reading my posts! Xx
