Irish soda bread

Tom made Irish soda bread for lunch the other day. Apparently his parents used to make it all the time when he was little.
It was really easy to make (according to Tom) and was delicious served with smoked salmon, rocket and a squeeze of lemon! Yum!

Craft night

One of my friends emailed me the other day and asked if I have been doing any sewing in Perth.. Have I ever?!

For the first time in my life I actually have my own sewing room and I have been getting my craft on! (In Sydney I always worked from the dining room table because we lived in such little places and having my own sewing room was a fantasy.)

I have been doing soo much sewing and I even got an overlocker for mothers day a few months ago! (Thanks Tom Sophie!)

But the best thing of all is that one of Tom's friends from high school invited me to join her craft night when I arrived in Perth, so every Tuesday night I catch up with a bunch of really cool and crafty mums and we spend the night drinking tea, eating yummy treats and sewing! It is Awesome with a capital A!

Enchanted

Have you seen the Disney movie 'Enchanted'?
We watched it for the zillionth time tonight.. I think Tom and I love it just as much as Sophie.
We also sing along to the soundtrack when we are driving..
it's so embarrassing!

Home. For now.

When we moved to Perth we thought that we would stay with Tom's dad for a few weeks while we looked for somewhere to live.
We very quickly realised that for the first time in our lives, buying a house was actually an option for us.
We decided to stay with Tom's dad for about 6 months while we saved a deposit for a house.

Luckily, it's a 7 bedroom house! (Six bedrooms inside and a self contained granny-flat out the back).
It is basically my dream house.. Tom's parents bought it as a little 2 bedroom cottage when Tom was just a baby. The house has grown with the family and Tom's dad did all the renovations himself.

Since finding out that I will need to be on full time bed-rest the next time I fall pregnant, we have decided to settle in here for good as I will need as much help as I can get once I am pregnant! That's of course if Tom's dad can put up with us that long!

Tom's little sister Georgia (Hi Georgie!! Xx) lives out the back in the granny flat and we have the whole upstairs level to ourselves. Sophie loves waking up in the morning and running downstairs for tea and porridge with grandpa..
I love it here.

Face masks and Foolishness

I have always been a fan of Carla Oates and her love of home-made beauty products, so I was really happy to find her blog last week which is full of great recipes for beauty products that you can make from the contents of your fridge/ pantry..

I made the mandarin and almond face scrub which was divine!
